Courses of Czech for Foreigners at the Philosophical Faculty

The courses of Czech language for foreigners are organized by the Department of the Distance Learning, which is a part of the Philosophical Faculty. The courses are taught in English, German, Russian and Czech. The Department is able to offer you a large variety of courses according to your specific demands (one-to-one tuition, basic Czech etc.)

The Basic Czech Course aims to quickly provide a communicative competence in Czech. The programme is prepared with respect to your specific communicative goals: i.e. vocabulary, Czech for special purposes, etc. You will be provided with textbooks and other teaching materials. At the end of your course you may, if you wish, take a Certificate Exam specifying the level of your knowledge. This examination is set at levels recognised within the EU. All the students can attend twice-weekly Czech film sessions. Palacký University can reserve dormitory accommodation for you.

A: A Super-Intensive Course of Czech for Foreigners

20 lessons per week (One lesson = 45 minutes), taught either in small groups or as a One-to-One Course (13 weeks = 1 semester / 26 weeks = 2 semesters). You can use the library, computer halls and other facilities of Palacký University. The Super-Intensive Course of Czech for Foreigners is suitable for complete Beginners, ”False“ beginners, Intermediate and Advanced students, and can be taught in English, in German and, for Intermediate and Advanced students, in Czech.

This is the total price for a course taught on a one-to-one basis. However, if you wish, both the lessons and the cost can be shared among 2-5 students if they apply together for the same level of course (i.e. Beginners, Intermediate). Please note that the Department stipulates the possibility of raising the individual fee if all the initial applicants do not start the course.

B: An Intensive Course of Czech for Foreigners

10 lessons per week (One lesson = 45 minutes), taught either in small groups or as a One-to-One Course. In all other respects, the same as the Super-Intensive Course.

This is the total price for a course taught on a one-to-one basis. However, if you wish, both the lessons and the cost can be shared among 2-5 students if they apply together for the same level of course (i.e. Beginners, Intermediate). Please note that the Department stipulates the possibility of raising the individual fee if all the initial applicants do not start the course.

C: General Czech for Foreigners Course

The number of lessons per week and the number of weeks per semester are not fixed: the programme can be varied according your individual requirements, from 2 lessons per week up to nine. We recommend at least 50 lessons in total. This course is designed for business people working in our country, children of immigrants partly using the language or anybody else who is not free for 10 or 20 lessons per week during the school year. You can as well attend Czech film sessions together with the other students. You will also be provided with textbooks and other teaching materials. At the end of your course, you may if you wish take a Certificate Exam specifying the level of your knowledge. This course can even be taught in your office, if it is situated in Olomouc.
